Over the last 5 years blogs have became the new way for the Fashion Industry to connect to audiences. The impact that the fashion world has had online has driven a trend of designers, buyers, retailers, editors and columnist.
There are two main types of Fashion Blogs;
- Ownership - These blogs are owned by either a individual or companies.
- Writer's expertise's - These are either written by insiders, outsiders or aspiring insiders. The people who write these blogs have strong options about fashion. A lot of the people aspire to work in the fashion industry. Some people believe that if they write fashion blogs in may lead to landing a job in the fashion industry.
Tavi Gevinson was born in Chicago. On March 31st 2008, at the age of 11; Gevinson started her own blog 'Style Rookie'
After a number of people started following her blog; Tavi became famous and was asked to appear in the New York Times to feature a story. To this day Tavi has aspired the fashion elite. she has been a special guest at Marc Jacobs, Yohji Yamamoto and Alexander Wang during New York's Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Tavi is now a columnist for POP magazine for the online publication but she also has her own magazine 'RookieMag'
This shows that what ever industry one may want to pursue a career in social media can play a major role. Today's youth have the advantage of being surrounded by social media from such a young age that should be able to use it to their full advantage.
